The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, visited the Government Flying Service (GFS) Headquarters at the Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau, this afternoon (May 29).

Mrs Lam started her visit by meeting the Controller of the GFS, Captain Michael Chan, and other senior officers of the department and receiving a briefing from them on the daily operations and latest developments of the department. She then proceeded to tour the facilities at the headquarters, including the Air Command and Control Centre, the hangar and the search and rescue equipment.

During the visit, Mrs Lam chatted with front-line staff of the department to understand the difficulties of the aircrew in conducting search and rescue operations during inclement weather and the challenges faced by the engineering staff in repairing the aircraft and equipment, as well as the training arranged by the department for enhancing the emergency response capabilities of the front-line staff. She praised the GFS for its outstanding performance in emergency flying services and rescue operations in Hong Kong and neighbouring areas, and encouraged all staff to continue to provide quality and professional aviation support services to the general public with dedication and excellence.
