Man arrested for murder

     Police in the small hours of today (May 24) arrested a 54-year-old man suspected to be in connection with a murder case in Sheung Shui yesterday night (May 23) in which a 47-year-old man was killed.

     About 10.44pm yesterday, Police received a report that the 47-year-old man was attacked and injured at Mun Hau Tsuen in Sheung Shui.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found the man lying unconscious on the ground in a house. Sustaining multiple cut wounds on his body, the man was rushed to North District Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 11.43pm.

     Initial investigations revealed that the deceased was attacked by the 54-year-old man with a fruit knife. The man then left the scene.

     Police later arrested the man for murder in the vicinity of Mun Hau Tsuen and seized in his waist bag a fruit knife in suspected connection with the case. The arrestee is being detained for further enquiries.

     Post-mortem examinations on the deceased will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death.

     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po are under way.
