The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (May 22) with members of the Yuen Long District Council (DC) and the North DC respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2 of the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting with the Yuen Long DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: progress of the construction of the swimming pool complex in Tin Shui Wai North; construction of a market and a cooked food centre managed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department in Tin Shui Wai; following up on the progress of reviewing the criteria for addition or deletion of bus routes as proposed last year; request for the Highways Department to expedite the implementation of the elevated pedestrian corridor along Yuen Long Town Nullah and to extend it to areas of Ma Tong Road; and timetable for the construction of noise barriers on Long Tin Road in Yuen Long. The meeting was convened by Mr Chan Kin-por and attended by Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Mr Wong Ting-kwong, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Chan Han-pan, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Leung Che-cheung, Ms Alice Mak, Mr Poon Siu-ping, Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Tony Tse.
As for the meeting with the North DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: provision of additional leisure and sports facilities in the North District; provision of integrated community facilities and venues in the North District; parking facilities in the North District; resources for tree management work in the North District; and provision of additional resources to complement the overall planning and development of the North District. The meeting was convened by Dr Lam Tai-fai and attended by Ms Emily Lau, Mr Vincent Fang, Mr Jeffrey Lam, Mr Ronny Tong, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Chan Hak-kan, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr James Tien, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Dr Elizabeth Quat, Mr Tang Ka-piu and Dr Lo Wai-kwok.
