CSSA caseload for April

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in April showed a drop of 773 cases, representing a decrease of 0.3 per cent, when compared to that in March, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (May 21).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of April stood at 258 649 (see attached table), with a total of 393 014 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.3 per cent and 1 per cent to 20 264 cases and 8 529 cases respectively. Ill-health cases and old age cases both dropped by 0.2 per cent to 25 052 cases and 150 840 cases. Permanent disability cases also registered a decrease of 0.1 per cent to 18 352 cases.

     Single parent cases showed a slight increase of 0.5 per cent to 29 999 cases.
