Hong Kong Customs seizes cannabis buds at Lok Ma Chau Control Point (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (May 14) seized about 3 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and arrested a man. The market value of the drugs was about $0.55 million.

     Customs officers yesterday afternoon conducted Customs clearance on an incoming medium goods vehicle at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and found a total of about 3 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds.

     The 30-year-old man, who claimed to be a cross-boundary vehicle driver, was arrested for suspected drug trafficking. He will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (May 16).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
