UK's Motionhouse to stage dance work "Scattered" in June (with photos)
*********************************************************

The United Kingdom (UK)-based dance theatre group Motionhouse will visit Hong Kong in June to stage its highly acclaimed production "Scattered".

"Scattered" explores the relationship between humans and water, as well as the fact that water surrounds us in its different forms throughout our lives. Performed on a huge curved floor that disappears skywards, "Scattered" uses projection technology and daring dancing, plus aerial harnesses and bungees, to create an extraordinary world in which dancers move seamlessly in, on and through images.

Motionhouse was founded in 1988 by artistic director Kevin Finnan and executive director Louise Richards, and the company has since become one of the leading dance theatre companies in the UK. Finnan was also appointed as choreographer and movement director for the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Motionhouse is a combination of physical dance, powerful visual theatre and sensory feast, seamlessly choreographed to take the audience on a virtual journey. Critics have remarked on how cleverly everything fits together, with evocative imagery, film and music. Motionhouse was voted by audiences as UK's best dance company at The National Dance Awards in 2006.

"Scattered" is one of the programmes in the "Dance x Multimedia" series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be staged at 8pm on June 20 and 21 (Friday and Saturday) and 2.30pm on June 21 and 22 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Theatre of Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre. Tickets priced at $150, $250 and $300 are now available at URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by credit card telephone booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A post-performance talk (conducted in English) will be held after the first performance.

The "Dance x Multimedia" series also includes "Seventh Sense" by Taiwan's Anarchy Dance Theatre and Ultra Combos (June 13 to 15) and "CODES 2.0" by Irish art group MIDASpaces (July 11 to 13).
