Fatal traffic accident in Tai Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po today afternoon (May 14) in which a 61-year-old woman died.
 
     About 2pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling along Tai Po Road towards Sha Tin. When approaching near Deerhill Bay, it reportedly knocked down the 61-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
 
     The woman was trapped under the LGV and rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries, she was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in unconscious state where she was certified dead at 2.52pm.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
 
     Investigations will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North.
