CS to visit Austria and Germany

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will visit Vienna in Austria and Berlin and Frankfurt in Germany from May 18 to 23 (Sunday to Friday).

     While in Vienna on May 18 and 19, she will visit cultural facilities and meet with senior government officials to promote bilateral ties. She will also attend an event organised by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to promote opportunities in Hong Kong for Austrian companies.

     Mrs Lam will then proceed to Germany in the evening of May 19. During her stay in Berlin, she will officiate at the Gala Dinner organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (Berlin ETO) and the Opening Night of the Hong Kong Film Festival, and attend the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding on the mutual use of automated immigration clearance service between Hong Kong and Germany. She will also meet with senior officials and Members of the Parliament to promote bilateral ties between Hong Kong and Germany, and will visit cultural facilities and heritage projects as well as receive a briefing on Germany's vocational education and training system. While in Frankfurt, Mrs Lam will speak at a business luncheon jointly organised by Berlin ETO and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and visit environmental, art and health-care facilities and institutions.

     Mrs Lam will return to Hong Kong on May 24. During her absence, the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, and the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, will act as Chief Secretary for Administration from May 17 to 20 and from May 21 to 24 respectively.
