Limited Registration renewal for three overseas doctors
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hospital Authority (HA) has welcomed the decision of the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK) today (May 13) to approve the renewal applications for practice with Limited Registration of three non-local doctors who will continue to serve and help relieve the front-line pressure in public hospitals for another year. The three doctors are now working in Accident & Emergency (two doctors) and Anaesthetic Departments.

The HA spokesman said there are 19 doctors who have been approved by the MCHK since 2012 for practice in public hospitals under Limited Registration to relieve manpower pressure in the specialties of Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. Currently, there are 12 non-local doctors working in the HA, alleviating the workload pressure of front-line doctors.

The HA will continue to make every effort to attract fully registered local doctors and retain public doctors. Meanwhile, the HA would like to express appreciation to all doctors for their commitment and contribution to serving the public under manpower constraint.
