The Labour Department will hold a large-scale job fair at Tung Chung Community Hall on May 15 and 16.
A total of 54 organisations, mainly from the retail, transport, catering and property management industries, offering about 4 800 vacancies, will participate at the fair. Twenty seven participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day.
The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as ramp equipment operator, passenger services agent, courier, salesperson, waiter/waitress, cook, kitchen assistant, security guard, driver, storekeeper and cleaner. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Around 80 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $7,000 to $15,000. Over 98 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 70 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience, and many vacancies are suitable for young people and secondary school graduates.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services and make enquiries about applying for the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy at the Labour Department's counter.
The job fair will be held from 11.30am to 6pm at Tung Chung Community Hall, G/F, Tung Chung Municipal Services Building, 39 Man Tung Road, Tung Chung (MTR Tung Chung Station Exit C, next to North Citygate). Admission is free.
