The spokesperson for Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following update today (May 11) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Multi-drugs Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) carriers in a medicine and geriatrics ward:
The hospital has stepped up the screening procedures. Two more male patients (aged 53 and 82) are confirmed as carriers of MDRA today but without clinical symptoms. One of the patients has been discharged, while another patient has passed away earlier.
The hospital will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the ward. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
