FEHD orders Cheung Sha Wan restaurant to suspend business for three weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Cheung Sha Wan to suspend business for 21 days, as the operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area.

The restaurant, located at shop A on the ground floor of Easey Building at 512 to 518 Fuk Wing Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 10) to May 30.

"Between July 2012 and November last year, a total of six convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $12,400 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," the spokesman said.

"The licensee lodged an appeal to the Licensing Appeals Board, which decided to suspend the licence for 21 days in place of cancellation of the licence," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
