The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (May 8) with members of the Islands District Council (DC) and the Southern DC respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2 of the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting with the Islands DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: ferry service for outlying islands and related policies; transport planning for outlying islands and related policies; issuance of additional Lantau taxi licences; latest progress of the "Concept Plan for Lantau"; and construction of a municipal services building incorporating dried goods market, wet market and cooked food stalls in Tung Chung New Town. The meeting was convened by Mr Chan Han-pan and attended by Mr James To, Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Mr Frederick Fung, Mr Andrew Leung, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Frankie Yick, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Mr Leung Che-cheung and Ir Dr Lo Wai-kwok.
As for the meeting with the Southern DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: conservation and promotion of fishermen culture in Aberdeen; transport support facilities for tourism; traffic issues in Aberdeen; proposals on lifting the development moratorium in the neighbourhood of Wah Fu Estate to the south of Pok Fu Lam for public housing development; and traffic problems caused by the development of Wong Chuk Hang and Ocean Park. The meeting was convened by Ms Cyd Ho and attended by Mr James To, Mr Frederick Fung, Mr Andrew Leung, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mrs Regina Ip, Mr Charles Mok, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Sin Chung-kai, Mr Martin Liao, Ir Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Christopher Chung.
