Helen Lai and DanceArt Hong Kong to stage "The Island Whispers..." in June (with photo)
******************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present Helen Lai and DanceArt's "The Island Whispers..." in June.

"When all is lost and gone, how do we retrace our past in this land of forgetfulness?"

After a lapse of 13 years since their last collaboration, Helen Lai has again teamed up with DanceArt to create the dance poem "The Island Whispers¡K", which takes place in an imaginary wasteland. Seven talented dancers are involved in the production, namely Allen Lam, Cherry Leung, Francis Leung, Rebecca Wong, Yvette Huang, Gigi Yang and greenmay.

DanceArt has pioneered the genre of self-choreographed solo productions in Hong Kong. In their dance theatre productions, the group presents some poignant reflections on Hong Kong themes. Under the artistic direction of Francis Leung, and building on 15 years of collaboration between Leung and Andy Wong since they founded DanceArt in 1995, the group is striving to take the art of dance to wider and higher realms of excellence. DanceArt has been involved in cultural exchange tours to many parts of the world and has performed in the Mainland, Taiwan, the United States and Canada. In 2014, the production "M-cident" received the Hong Kong Dance Awards for Outstanding Independent Dance Production.

"The Island Whispers¡K" will be staged at 8pm on June 13 and 14 (Friday and Saturday) at the Shouson Theatre, Hong Kong Arts Centre. Tickets priced at $200 and $160 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking.
