Fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po this afternoon (April 30) in which a woman aged about 70 died.

     About 2pm, a medium goods vehicle driven by a 53-year-old man was travelling along Shek Kip Mei Street towards Tai Po Road. When moving on after stopping behind a traffic light near the junction with Yiu Tung Street, it reportedly knocked down the woman who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious multiple injuries in unconscious state, the woman was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where she was certified dead at 2.32pm.

     The deceased, carrying no identification document, was about 1.5 metres tall and of fat build with short white hair. She was wearing a brown short-sleeve shirt with white spots, blue trousers and pink sports shoes.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Active investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are underway.
