"Facts about Constitutional Development" Seminar and Interactive Theatre - Yau Tsim Mong District Basic Law promotion activities (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of Yau Tsim Mong District Council:
   
     The Yau Tsim Mong District Organising Committee on Promotion of Civic Education (YTMOCPCE) under the Yau Tsim Mong District Council (YTMDC), Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association (TSTDKFWA), Yaumati Kai Fong Welfare Advancement Association and Mong Kok Kai Fong Association jointly held the "Facts about Constitutional Development" Seminar and Interactive Theatre today (April 29) at the Hall of TSTDKFWA. The event aims to enhance local residents' knowledge of the Basic Law and constitutional development.

     Attending guests included member of the Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee, Ms Ko Po-ling; the world-renowned explorer, Dr Rebecca Lee; the Chairman of the YTMOCPCE, Mr Hui Tak-leung; and the Chairman of TSTDKFWA, Mr So Chung-ping. During the seminar, Ms Ko elaborated on the relevant provisions in the Basic Law concerning the methods for selecting the Chief Executive in 2017 while Dr Lee shared her views with the public. The seminar was met by keen responses from the participants.

     Including today's seminar, the YTMOCPCE and the three Kai Fong Associations in Yau Tsim Mong district have organised five seminars on constitutional development this month, attracting more than 1 500 participants and involving total funding of $40,000 from the District Council. The YTMOCPCE also allocated $50,000 to commission a professional theatrical group to produce an interactive drama introducing the Basic Law and the consultation document on constitutional development in a lively and interesting way. Four public performances have been staged to date.
