The following is issued on behalf of the Communications Authority:

     This press release summarises the Communications Authority (CA)'s  decisions following its 30th meeting, in April 2014:

     The CA considered 10 complaint cases in respect of the licensees' non-compliance with the relevant licence conditions and codes of practice on programme and advertising standards:

(a) a complaint against the television programme "6:00 News" broadcast on the Home and Asia Channels of Asia Television Limited (ATV) on September 25, 2013. The CA decided that ATV should be seriously warned to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the Generic Code of Practice on Television Programme Standards (TV Programme Code);

(b) a complaint against the television programme "Will Power" broadcast on the Jade and HD Jade Channels of Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) on October 25, 2013. The CA decided that TVB should be seriously warned to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the TV Programme Code and the Generic Code of Practice on Television Advertising Standards (TV Advertising Code);
  
(c) a complaint against the television programme "German Soccer League 2013/14: Dortmund vs Braunschweig" broadcast on the Soccer Betting Channel of Hong Kong Cable Television Limited (HKCTV) on August 18, 2013. The CA decided that HKCTV should be warned to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the TV Programme Code;

(d) a complaint against the television advertisement for "Abbott Eye-Q Plus" broadcast on the Jade Channel of TVB on September 4, 2013. The CA decided that TVB should be warned to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the TV Advertising Code;

(e) a complaint against the television programme "A-League: 2013/14: Newcastle Jets vs Central Coast Mariners" broadcast on the Soccer Betting Channel of HKCTV on November 2, 2013. The CA decided that HKCTV should be warned to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the TV Programme Code;

(f) a complaint against the television programme "12:30 News" broadcast on the Home Channel of ATV on December 4, 2013. The CA decided that ATV should be warned to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the TV Programme Code;

(g) a complaint against the television programme "Q & A Lessons" broadcast on the Home Channel of ATV on May 1, 2013. The CA decided that ATV should be advised to observe more closely the relevant provision in the TV Programme Code;

(h) a complaint against the television programme "Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2013 ¡V Semi Final" broadcast on the Jade Channel of TVB on August 25, 2013. The CA decided that TVB should be advised to observe more closely the relevant conditions in TVB's domestic free television programme service licence;

(i) a complaint against the television programme "M. I. Challenge" broadcast on the Jade Channel of TVB on October 6, 2013. The CA decided to classify the complaint as a minor breach and TVB is reminded to observe more closely the relevant provision in the TV Programme Code; and

(j) a complaint against the television programme "ATV Focus" broadcast on the Home and Asia Channels of ATV on November 7, 2013. The CA decided to classify the complaint as a minor breach and ATV is reminded to observe more closely the relevant provisions in the TV Programme Code.
