Senior Counsel appointed

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Honourable Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma Tao-li is pleased to announce today (April 15) the appointment of four Senior Counsel of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. They are:

Mr Ian Pennicott
Ms Anita Yip Hau-ki
Mr Raymond Leung Wai-man
Mr Anson Wong Man-kit

     The appointments are made by the Chief Justice under section 31A of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance.

     The appointments will take effect from the date of the Instrument of Appointment, which will be executed on May 17, 2014, when the ceremonial proceedings will be held at 10am in Court No. 1 in the High Court.

     The biographical notes of the newly appointed Senior Counsel are as follows:

Mr Ian Pennicott

     Mr Ian Pennicott, aged 55, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Law at Kingston University. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) in 1982 and was called to the Inner Bar in 2003. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1984. He has a civil practice.

Ms Anita Yip Hau-ki

     Ms Anita Yip Hau-ki, aged 51, obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. She was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1989. She has a civil practice.

Mr Raymond Leung Wai-man

     Mr Raymond Leung Wai-man, aged 50, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of London. He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Gray's Inn) in 1992 and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1992. He has a civil practice.

Mr Anson Wong Man-kit

     Mr Anson Wong Man-kit, aged 37, obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 1999. He has a civil practice.
