Customs seizes 2.2kg of methamphetamine in Tsim Sha Tsui (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs today (April 12) seized 2.2 kilogrammes of methamphetamine and arrested one woman in an anti-narcotics operation in Tsim Sha Tsui. The market value of the drug was about $960,000.

     Customs officers intercepted a woman in Tsim Sha Tsui today afternoon and found two packets of methamphetamine weighing a total of 2.2 kilogrammes in a suitcase carried by her.

     The woman, aged 27, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on April 14.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
