"Basic Law - Let's Listen, Let's Talk" opening ceremony cum Sha Tin primary school Basic Law quiz and Basic Law roving exhibition (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Sha Tin District Council:

     The Working Group on Promotion of Civic-Mindedness and Youth Affairs of Culture, Sports and Community Development Committee (CSCDC) under the Sha Tin District Council (STDC) held the "Basic Law - Let's Listen, Let's Talk" opening ceremony cum Sha Tin primary school Basic Law quiz and Basic Law roving exhibition today (April 12).  The event aims to enhance the general public's knowledge of the Basic Law and its role as the constitutional document of the HKSAR in a lively way.

     Officiating at the ceremony were the Chairman of the STDC, Mr Ho Hau-cheung; the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho; the Vice Chairman of the STDC, Mr Pang Cheung-wai; the Chairman of the CSCDC, Mr Cheng Cho-kwong and the Convenor of the Working Group, Mr Wong Yue-hon.  The event was held in the presence of an expert in the education sector and host of a former quiz programme, Ms Mok Fung-yee, and renowned lyricist, Mr Cheng Kwok-kong.  Ms Mok was also the guest moderator of the quiz today.

     The participating schools were Baptist Lui Ming Choi Primary School, Dr. Catherine F. Woo Memorial School, G.C.C.I.T.K.D. Cheong Wong Wai Primary School, Ma On Shan Ling Liang Primary School, Ng Clan's Association Tai Pak Memorial School, and Shatin Government Primary School.  Each school selected three student representatives to run for the championship of the quiz competition.  Ng Clan's Association Tai Pak Memorial School won the overall champion, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Primary School and Dr. Catherine F. Woo Memorial School were the first and second runners-up respectively.

     A roving exhibition would be held this month at various shopping centres in Sha Tin with a view to enhancing public understanding of various parts of the Basic Law.
