The Legislative Council (LegCo) Delegation began the duty visit to Shanghai today (April 12). Members of the Delegation first paid a visit to the Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District (Business District) in the morning. They received a briefing on the Hong Kong-Shanghai co-operation initiatives by Deputy President of Shanghai Hong Kong Airport Management Company Limited, Mr Michael Yuen, and visited the Exhibition Hall of the Business District. The Delegation then proceeded to the Integrated Transportation Hub at the Business District to understand first-hand the operational mode of the transport hub. While at the hub, Members toured the interchange of the city's metro system and boarded a High-speed Railway train to take a look at the facilities inside the train compartments.
The Delegation then visited the aircraft manufacturing site of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China. Members were briefed on the assembly of the first fabricated commercial aircraft in China and went inside the simulation cabin.
At noon, the Delegation met with Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Mr Han Zheng, to exchange views on co-operation between Hong Kong and Shanghai. President of LegCo and Leader of the Delegation, Mr Jasper Tsang, thanked Shanghai Municipality for meticulously planning the two-day visit for the Delegation. The Delegation then attended a luncheon hosted by Shanghai Municipality.
The Delegation will continue the duty visit in Shanghai tomorrow and return to Hong Kong in the evening.
