Hong Kong Customs seizes methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs today (April 9) seized about two kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point and arrested a woman. The market value of the drugs was about $860,000.

     Customs officers conducted customs clearance on an incoming woman at Lo Wu Control Point this morning and found a total of about two kilogrammes of methamphetamine in two packets of tea carried by her.

     The 51-year old woman, claimed as unemployed, was arrested for suspected drug trafficking and will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (April 10).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
