Following is the transcript of remarks by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at a media session at the Legislative Council Complex this morning (April 9):
Reporter: Are you worried that the 2,000 or so amendments would really slow down government operations, and the LegCo operation?
Financial Secretary: Two thousand or so amendments will definitely slow down everything and would create a lot of risk in terms of our spending pattern. As you know the vote on account allowed us 20 per cent as interim funding, that would last until the end of May. Beginning in June some of the departments and bureaux would face difficulty and we need to deal with that problem, but I'm sure the legislators are just as concerned as I am - not to disrupt the services that we provide to the people of Hong Kong.
