Government welcomes appointment to Board of Financial Dispute Resolution Centre

     The Government welcomes the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC)'s appointment of Mr Philip Leung Kwong-hon as non-official Director of the FDRC's Board for a term of two years with effect from today on the nomination of the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.

     A Government spokesman said today (March 31), "We welcome Mr Leung to the FDRC's Board. Mr Leung is the Vice-Chairman of the Consumer Council with extensive experience and enthusiasm in protecting and promoting consumer interests, and we believe that the FDRC would benefit from his expertise in the area."

     The spokesman added, "Ms Connie Lau Yin-hing, on her appointment as Ombudsman, has resigned from the FDRC's Board with effect from today. We express our heartfelt thanks to Ms Lau for her invaluable contributions over the past two years with the Board and wish her every success in the new post."
