Operational event at Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station
**************************************************

An operational event at Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) was reported today (March 28) on the website of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co Ltd (DNMC), a spokesperson for the Security Bureau said today.

Plant No. 3 of LNPS is currently under refuelling outage and the reactor is under the state of cold shutdown. On March 27, a piece of monitoring equipment at the No. 3 reactor building of LNPS, which was for measuring the radiation level of air inside the plant, experienced a temporary failure. The problem was fixed in about two hours, during which the air quality inside the plant remained normal as measured by other monitoring devices inside the plant. No personnel or other facilities were affected. The event was classified as a "Level 0" event on the International Nuclear Event Scale, which means it had no safety significance.

The DNMC would disseminate on its website (www.dnmc.com.cn) news pertaining to the operation and safety issues of both the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station and LNPS for the information of the general public. Details about this event can be viewed at the "operational events" section under the "nuclear and radiation safety information" webpage of the DNMC website.
