The Highways Department today (March 28) invited tenders for the "Provision of Barrier-free Access Facilities for Highway Structures - Phase 3 Contract 4" (Contract No. HY/2013/23).
The works are expected to commence in June this year and will take about 36 months to complete. The works will mainly comprise:
* Construction of 24 lifts and one standard ramp for 10 existing footbridges, three existing elevated walkways and three existing subways in 16 locations in Wan Chai, Eastern District, Southern District, Kowloon City, Yau Tsim Mong District, Wong Tai Sin, Kwun Tong, Tai Po, Tuen Mun and North District;
* Civil works, geotechnical works, electrical and mechanical works, modification works for existing structures, road and drainage works, and landscaping works, etc, associated with the works above; and
* Site investigation works as specified in the Contract.
Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box located at the lobby of the public entrance on the Ground Floor, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. Submission of tenders will be closed at noon on May 9, 2014 (Friday).
The Major Works Project Management Office of the Highways Department has appointed Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd to design and supervise the construction works. Interested contractors can obtain the tender forms and other particulars from the office of Parsons Brinckerhoff (Asia) Ltd at 7/F, One Kowloon, 1 Wang Yuen Street, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong.
