New Shek Kip Mei Public Library to offer variety of services (with photos)

     Shek Kip Mei Public Library will open for public use tomorrow (March 28), offering a variety of library services to readers in Sham Shui Po District. The new library will replace the existing Pak Tin Public Library, which will cease operation on the same day.

     The new Shek Kip Mei Public Library, located at 7/F, Shek Kip Mei Estate Ancillary Facilities Block, 100 Woh Chai Street, Shek Kip Mei, is a small library with an area of 862 square metres. Apart from replacing the facilities provided in Pak Tin Public Library, such as an adult library, a children's library and a newspaper and periodicals section, the new library also features an extension activities room, Internet and digital service workstations, express check-in service, self-service book borrowing and renewal service.

     The library has an initial stock of more than 70 000 items and about 100 newspaper and periodical titles for people of all ages and interests.

     The library will also organise extension activities such as storytelling for children and book displays to promote reading. Schools and members of cultural and educational organisations are welcome to arrange group visits to the library to better understand its facilities and services.

     The library's opening hours are as follows:

Mondays to Wednesdays and Fridays: 10am to 7pm
Saturdays and Sundays            : 10am to 5pm
Public holidays                  : 10am to 1pm
Thursdays                        : Closed
