CSSA caseload for February

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in February showed a drop of 348 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent, when compared to that in January, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (March 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of February stood at 259 763 (see attached table), with a total of 393 450 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases and low earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 0.7 per cent and 0.6 per cent to 20 760 cases and 8 753 cases respectively. Permanent disability cases and old age cases also dropped by 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 18 350 cases and 151 075 cases respectively.

     Ill-health cases and single parent cases registered slight increases of 0.2 per cent and 0.9 per cent to 25 165 cases and 29 639 cases respectively.
