Correctional officers stop person in custody committing self-harm

     A male person in custody hit his fists against the wall and was stopped by Correctional Services officers in Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre today (March 17).  

     At about 3.31pm while waiting for the admission procedures after returning from court, the 27-year-old male person in custody suddenly turned emotional in the toilet of Reception Office and punched the wall with his fists.  The officers at scene stopped him but he pushed away one of the officers and kept on punching the wall.  The officers applied OC foam to subdue him after repeated warnings.

     No officer sustained injury during the incident.

     The case has been reported to the Police for further action.

     The male person in custody was sentenced for the offence of inhaling, smoking, ingesting or injecting of dangerous drug.
