Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 657 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 81 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.

     The operation concluded at 7pm today (March 17) and a total of 268 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 464 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 193 for other traffic offences.

     Three pedestrians and 101 drivers were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.?

     Statistics revealed that a total of 479 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to February this year, of which 138 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 51.4 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
