FEHD orders Yau Ma Tei restaurant to suspend business for three weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yau Ma Tei to suspend business for 21 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor of No.184 Temple Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (March 15) to April 4.

"Last December, four convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $23,200 was levied by the court and 60 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in seven-day and 14-day business suspensions running consecutively," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is available on FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
