Nine men arrested in connection with a wounding case

     Nine men were arrested, in Hong Kong and the Mainland respectively, in connection with a wounding case in Chai Wan on February 26 in which a 49-year-old man was seriously injured.

     At about 10.20am on that day, Police received a report that a 49-year-old man was attacked with a chopper outside 55 Tai Hong Street. Police sped to the scene and located the man.  Sustaining multiple chop wounds, he was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in conscious state.

     Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island took over the case and conducted in-depth investigation. Police were informed by the Public Security Bureau in Guangdong on March 9 that the two suspected assailants were arrested in the Mainland.  Hong Kong Police also commenced a search operation in the territory today (March 12) and tracked down another seven suspected accomplices.

     The nine arrestees, aged between 30 and 57, are being detained in Hong Kong and the Mainland respectively pending further enquiries.

     Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island are underway.
