Political Assistant appointed

     The Chief Executive's Office announced today (March 12) that the Appointment Committee has appointed a Political Assistant of the fourth term of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

     The Secretary for Development has recommended Mr Allen Fung Ying-lun to be his Political Assistant and his recommendation has been approved by the Appointment Committee. Mr Fung will assume office on March 17.

     Following are the biographical notes on the new appointee:

Mr Allen Fung Ying-lun

     Aged 30, Mr Fung holds a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in history and politics from the University of Hong Kong. He later obtained a Master of Public Administration degree from the same university. After graduation, Mr Fung served as a Public Service Assistant to the former Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council Mr C Y Leung for seven years. Before joining the Government, Mr Fung was the Vice President (Corporate Development) of a subsidiary of Hong Kong Resources Holdings.

     Mr Fung was active in public services. Positions held include Member of the All China Youth Federation, Standing Committee Member of the Guangdong Youth Federation, Principal Researcher of the Hong Kong Sustainable Development Research Institute, Deputy Secretary-General of the Y. Elites Association, and Director of the Hong Kong United Youth Association.
