Hong Kong Customs seizes methamphetamine at Shenzhen Bay Control Point (with photos)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 7) seized about 4.4 kilogrammes of methamphetamine at Shenzhen Bay Control Point and arrested a man. The market value of the drugs was about $1.91 million.

     Customs officers yesterday afternoon intercepted an inbound seven-seater vehicle at Shenzhen Bay Control Point for examination. A total of about 4.4 kilogrammes of methamphetamine was found inside the false compartments of the rucksack and suitcase of a male passenger on board the vehicle.  

     The man, aged 29, claimed to be a businessman. He was charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Court next Monday (March 10).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
