Fourteen building plans approved in January

     The Buildings Department approved 14 building plans in January, with seven on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, six were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, three were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 6 375 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 52 units, and 46 666 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 15 building projects.

     The department also issued 23 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 14 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 11 690 sq m, involving 189 units, and 72 009 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled about $2 billion.

     In addition, 17 demolition consents involving 17 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 373 reports about unauthorised building works in January, and issued 445 removal orders on unauthorised works.
