The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (March 7) regarding works on the MTR Wan Chai Station Lee Tung Street Subway, which have been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.
The works include the construction of a pedestrian subway underneath Southorn Playground and across Johnston Road, as well as an underground station Entrance D connecting the basement of the redevelopment of the Urban Renewal Authority at Lee Tung Street.
Upon completion, the works will alleviate crowding at Entrance A of the MTR Wan Chai Station. They will also provide a direct, comfortable and barrier-free all-weather access for pedestrians and MTR passengers to travel across Johnston Road as well as enhancing the connectivity of pedestrian facilities between north and south Wan Chai.
