New uniform for traffic wardens (with photos)
*********************************************

Traffic wardens will serve the public in their new uniforms starting tomorrow (March 2).

"The new uniforms are functional and practical in all weather conditions and provide traffic wardens, who play an important role in ensuring public safety on the road, a clearer identity in crowded streets," a Police spokesman said.

A major difference between the old and the new uniform is the colour of the shirt, which changes from brown to beige. A cloth badge with brown wording "Traffic Warden" in English and Chinese is stitched above the flap of the left pocket to provide additional identification.

The windbreaker and long overcoat with a layering approach are made of waterproof and wind-proof materials, providing flexibility in different weather conditions. Yellow reflective bands are added on the sleeves as well as the front and the rear to ensure visibility in the hours of darkness.

The English and Chinese wording "Traffic Warden" in reflective material are added on the windbreaker, long overcoat and conspicuity vest to further enhance identification.

"The new uniform has been designed after wide consultation with staff to meet the challenging environment they face as well as to provide members of the public with a more visible identity in a crowded street," the spokesman said.
