CE to attend NPC session opening ceremony

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit Beijing from March 4 to 7. At the invitation of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Mr Leung will attend the opening ceremony of the second session of the 12th National People's Congress in Beijing on March 5.

     While in Beijing, Mr Leung will also meet with officials from central ministries and leaders of provincial and municipal governments.

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, and the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Beijing on March 5 to join Mr Leung on respective visits.
 
     Also joining the visit will be the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; the Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kin-ping; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Nick Au Yeung.

     Mr Leung will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon of March 7. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be Acting Chief Executive. During the absence of Professor Chan and Mr So, their respective Under Secretaries will be the acting Heads of Bureaux.
