Hong Kong Customs yesterday (February 27) seized 2.25 kilograms of ketamine and arrested a man in an anti-narcotics operation in Kwai Chung. The market value of the drug was about $270,000.
Customs officers intercepted a light goods vehicle in Kwai Chung last night and found 2.25 kilograms of ketamine in nine boxes in a recycle bag on board the vehicle. The male driver of the vehicle was arrested.
The arrestee, aged 24, was charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (March 1).
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
