Tickets for Force charity concerts on sale

     The Hong Kong Police Force will stage two charity concerts in the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall at 8pm on April 1 and 2 to celebrate its 170th anniversary.

     Tickets for the "170th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Police Force Charity Concert" will be on sale tomorrow (March 1). The proceeds will go to the Children's Cancer Foundation and the Helping Hand.

     In addition, a free admission concert will be held for the underprivileged at 3pm on April 2.

     Performing in the concert will be the Hong Kong Police Band, the Police Choir and the Police Chinese Cultural Club Chinese Orchestra.

     While the Police Pipe Band and Silver Band of the Police Band will present a rendition of famous tunes including "Pomp and Circumstances" March No. 1 by Elgar and the Finale of Dvorak's "New World Symphony", the Police Chinese Orchestra will perform two pieces of traditional Chinese music, "The General's Command" and "Horse Racing". The Police Choir will sing "Operation Manhunt" and "Striving for the Future", etc.

     As the guest performer, the Assistant Principal Percussionist of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Mr Ronald Chin, will lead the Hong Kong Drum Ensemble to perform Chinese Drum Concerto "Flying Dragon and Leaping Tiger".

     Internationally renowned singer Frances Yip Lai-yee will also sing golden oldies at the concert.

     Tickets at $1,500, $1,000, $600, $300 and $150 will be available at all URBTIX outlets.

     Limited half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 or above and people with disabilities for tickets of $600 or below on a first-come, first served basis. For ticketing enquiries, please call 2734 9009.
