Re-appointment of Executive Director to Securities and Futures Commission

     The Financial Secretary has re-appointed Mrs Alexa Lam as the Executive Director (Investment Products, International and China)/Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for one year from March 1, 2014, to February 28, 2015.

     The appointment was made with the authority delegated from the Chief Executive under the Securities and Futures Ordinance.

     A government spokesman said today (February 27), "Mrs Alexa Lam has extensive regulatory experience in the securities and futures field. Over the years, Mrs Lam has made invaluable contributions to the work of the SFC, particularly in the area of enhancing Hong Kong's close co-operation with the Mainland. We look forward to her continued dedicated service to the SFC in the new term."

     The Executive Director (Investment Products, International and China)/Deputy Chief Executive Officer post covers the development of overall policy for the SFC as a whole, with an emphasis on Mainland China, as well as the regulation and authorisation of investment products.

     Before joining the SFC as an adviser in 1998, Mrs Lam had been a legal practitioner in Hong Kong, Chicago and New York for more than 20 years and a visiting lecturer at the University of Hong Kong. She has been an Executive Director of the SFC since 2001 and was appointed to the current post in 2008.
