The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) will extend the service hours of its online cremation booking service starting next Monday (March 3) with a view to further enhancing the service.
An FEHD spokesman said today (February 26), "Since June 1 last year, members of the public can book the cremation service at the FEHD's six crematoria starting on its webpage (www.fehd.gov.hk). To further assist the public in using the service, starting from March 3 the FEHD will extend the online cremation booking service hours to 24 hours a day from 9.15am on Mondays to 12.30pm on Saturdays (except Saturday afternoons, Sundays and Public Holidays). Service hours of the Hong Kong Cremation Booking Office and Kowloon Cremation Booking Office (Cremation Booking Offices) of the FEHD will remain unchanged.
"The existing arrangement to provide cremation sessions within 15 days after the application date will remain unchanged. The Cremation Booking Offices and the FEHD webpage will release cremation sessions of the next 15th day as well as those unreleased cremation sessions of the preceding day(s) due to holidays in parallel at 9.15am on each working day. In addition, the arrangement to provide extra cremation sessions within the office hours of the Cremation Booking Offices will continue."
The spokesman added, "In case the service of Cremation Booking Offices is suspended due to hoisting of the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above or the Black Rainstorm Warning Signal at 9.15am, the online cremation booking service will also be suspended until the Cremation Booking Offices re-open again. The online cremation booking service will continue under other inclement weather conditions."
