FEHD orders Tsuen Wan light refreshment restaurant to suspend business for 14 days
******************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a light refreshment restaurant in Tsuen Wan to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the food business area.

The restaurant, located at shop 4 on the ground floor of Cheong On Building in Tsuen Cheong Centre at No. 186 ¡V 200 Sai Lau Kok Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 22) to March 7.

"Last January and December, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $1,300 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of two convictions for the same offence in June and October 2012. A total fine of $1,700 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in December 2012.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign, at a conspicuous place near the main entrance, indicating that the premises have been licensed. A list of licensed food premises is available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
