National Theatre of Scotland and Royal Shakespeare Company to stage "Dunsinane" in May
***********************************************************

The National Theatre of Scotland and the Royal Shakespeare Company will stage David Greig's "Dunsinane" in Hong Kong in May.

As a dramatic sequel to William Shakespeare's "Macbeth", "Dunsinane" is a vision of one man's attempt to restore peace in a country ravaged by war.

Under the cover of night an English army has swept through the Scottish landscape, killed a tyrant and taken the seat of power.

Attempting to restore peace and put in place a new ruler, the commanding officer Siward is beset by a brutal guerrilla uprising and simmering discontent amongst his inexperienced troops. Struggling to grasp the alien customs and politics of this harsh country, he finds himself drawn towards Macbeth's powerful widow in search of someone to share his burden of responsibility. Increasingly isolated from his own men and Scottish allies alike, he sees his efforts to restore order appear futile as the situation spins out of control.

Directed by Roxana Silbert, the cast of "Dunsinane" includes George Brockbanks, Daisy Chute, Helen Darbyshire, Ewan Donald, Darrell D'Silva, Calum Finlay, Keith Fleming, Tom Gill, Arthur McBain, Matt McClure, Siobhan Redmond and Paul Westwood.

The National Theatre of Scotland has been entertaining audiences at home and beyond since 2006. As Scotland's national theatre, it works collaboratively with the best companies and individuals to produce and tour world-class theatre. Its ambitions are to create work that excites and challenges audiences and which makes Scotland proud. The company has performed to over 1 million people across four continents.

Since it opened its doors in 1961, the Royal Shakespeare Company has been inviting the most talented and influential theatre makers to do their best work. During those five decades, it has produced plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries alongside classics and new plays, with the classical and the contemporary enriching each other every step of the way.

"Dunsinane" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be performed in English with Chinese surtitles at 7.45pm on May 2, 3 and 4 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and at 2.30pm on May 3 and 4 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Auditorium of Kwai Tsing Theatre.
