Sick person in custody dies in public hospital

A sick male person in custody from Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre died in a public hospital today (February 21).
The 43-year-old person in custody suffered from liver cirrhosis and required regular follow-ups and hospital treatment. He was sent to a public hospital for treatment on February 14 when his condition had deteriorated and he was found vomiting blood. He was certified dead at 5.32am today.
The case has been reported to the Police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.
The person in custody was sentenced to imprisonment for an offence of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
