FEHD cancels licence of food factory in Tuen Mun
************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene today (February 17) cancelled the licence of a food factory in Tuen Mun.

The operator of the food factory, located at shop 5 on the ground floor of Sun Court at No. 1 - 43 Yan Oi Tong Circuit, repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation (FBR) by illegally extending the business area and changing the type of fuel used for its heating equipment without permission.

"Last August and October, two convictions for the breaches were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) said.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the cancellation of the licence," he added.

The licensee of the food premises also had a record of four convictions for illegal extension of business area from last March to August. A total fine of $8,600 was levied and 60 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven and 14 days last July and November respectively.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the FBR or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.

Licensed food premises are required to exhibit a sign indicating that the premises have been licensed at a conspicuous place near the main entrance. A list of licensed food premises is also available on the FEHD's website (www.fehd.gov.hk/english/licensing/licence-type.html).
