Employer fined for violation of safety rules

The proprietor of Cheuk Yik Transportation was fined $12,000 at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts today (February 13) for violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecution was launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred at a logistics centre in Chek Lap Kok on February 1 last year, in which a truck porter was trapped to death between the tailgate and the body chassis of a truck while checking the load inside.
