CE to visit Guangdong

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will visit Guangdong tomorrow (February 14) to meet leaders of the Guangdong Provincial Government to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

     In Hong Kong's efforts to strengthen co-operation with the Mainland, Guangdong Province is our important partner. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has all along maintained a close relationship with the Guangdong Provincial Government to achieve mutually beneficial results in the development of both places.

     Mr Leung will meet with major leaders of the Guangdong Provincial Government in Guangzhou to exchange views on the co-operation between Hong Kong and Guangdong, including trade, professional services, cross-boundary infrastructure and other co-operation areas.

     While in Guangdong, Mr Leung will also visit the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport to keep abreast of the transport infrastructure development of Shenzhen.

     Also joining the visit will be the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So; the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Raymond Tam; the Secretary for Development, Mr Paul Chan; the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; the Director of Information Services (Designate), Mr Patrick Nip; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Mr Carlson Chan; the Deputy Director-General of Trade and Industry (Commercial Relations, Controls and Support), Mr Brian Lo; the Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kin-ping; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Nick Au Yeung.

     Mr Leung will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on the same day. During his absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will be the Acting Chief Executive. During the absence of Mr So, Mr Tam and Mr Chan, their respective Under Secretaries will be the acting Heads of Bureaux.
