Sixteen building plans approved in December

     The Buildings Department approved 16 building plans in December, with three on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and six were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 14 building projects that, when completed, will provide 44 744 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 725 units, and 192 566 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for seven building projects.

     The department also issued 16 occupation permits, with six on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 44 448 sq m, involving 331 units, and 88 911 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in December totalled about $3.5 billion.

     In addition, six demolition consents involving six building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 202 reports about unauthorised building works in December, and issued 1 274 removal orders on unauthorised works.
