******************************************************

Sponsored by Sa Sa Cosmetic Company Limited and co-ordinated by the Home Affairs Bureau, the 2014 Lunar New Year Fireworks Display is scheduled to be held at 8pm, February 1 (Saturday), the second day of the Lunar New Year, over Victoria Harbour.

A total of 31 888 firing shells will be discharged in the display from four barges in a 23-minute extravaganza consisting of eight scenes.

Highlights of the fireworks display include red lips, pink flowers and red and golden butterflies in the first scene, adding festive fun to the celebration. The fourth scene displays the Chinese character "Ji", the number 8 in red and "Gold Yuan Bo", symbolising an auspicious year for Hong Kong. Red-heart fireworks will appear in the sky in scene seven, enhancing the attractiveness of the display. The final scene includes silver horse hooves and horse tails running across the sky, together with the word "Win" superimposed on the water surface, celebrating the incoming year of the horse with joy and blessings.

The display can be seen from many vantage points on both sides of the harbour, including Tsim Sha Tsui, the Mid-levels, Central District, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and the Hung Hom Bypass.

To maximise enjoyment of the display, spectators are invited to tune in to Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 4 (FM 97.6 to 98.9) for synchronised music.

People are also urged to help keep public areas clean and to show respect for public property. They are also urged to show consideration in order to make the event a safe one.
